Following on from our school cross country, our College representatives travelled to Foxton last Wednesday to compete in the Manawatu Inter Secondary Schools Cross Country. Competition was tough and weather conditions were windy and very cold. Our students all ran hard and we had several top 10 places across the grades, with our best result of 4th in the Intermediate Boys by Michael McKnight.

Boy's Hockey won their first competition game 4 - 0 against PNBHS. In a closely fought game at home, the Boys Football 1st X1 drew 1 - 1 with Awatapu College First X1. On the adjacent field our Under 14 rugby team demolished PNBHS by 56 - 0. After the heavy loss the previous week it was a welcome sight to see such commitment and plenty of good performances on show. Later in the day the First XV rugby faced Waiapehu college and put in a good performance but lost 29 - 10. Netball was also under way last week and our Senior A team had a 36 - 10 win over Freyberg, and 9A also had a very good 26 - 6 win over a PNGHS team.
Earlier in the season Tararua College retained the rugby Viking Shield contested annually with St Peter's College from Palmerston North. It involved the Under 15 team, who drew 22 - 22, and the First XV winning their game 24 - 7.

Recently Tararua College held a Quiz Night as a fund raiser for the 2011 Italy trip. There was a great turnout, and even though there may be a recession, our community spirit is alive and kicking and for that we are very grateful.
