The term is roaring to a close, and NCEA examination time is fast approaching for our seniors. School holidays are at the end of next week and then it is a very short five weeks of school before Senior Prize-giving and commencement of national qualification examinations. Those Year 13 students going on to university next year are applying for their accommodation now and University Liaison Officers are visiting the College. Year 9 and 10 students have chosen their electives for the end of the year, and subject choices have been made for 2010 by Year 10 - 12 students.

It was back to work this week for those students who attended their national tournaments. Our Boys' Hockey team played in Carterton, and finished a very creditable fourth in their competition, with some of their results being very close. A casualty was Dylan Bennet, who injured his ankle in the last game while attempting a goal. Girls' Hockey played in Levin and highlights were Jemma Lockhead being picked as the tournament player of the day on Wednesday. Stepahanie Walker was awarded the team prize for Most Valuable Player. The Netball A team were in Gisborne and improved on their position from last year. They also finished second in their Manawatu competition.

The annual Lip Sync competition is being held this Friday, September 18th in the Tararua College hall and begins at 7.00pm. Tickets are $10 and are available from the School office. Come along and enjoy a very entertaining evening.

A reminder that the Aivale Cole 3pm Afternoon of Jazz Concert with the Roger Fox Band is on at The Regent, Palmerston North on September 20th. All proceeds from this concert will go to the College Italy Tour.
