TARARUA COLLEGE HAPPENINGS, WEEK 8, TERM 2, 2010 Year 12 Art student Alyse Jensen Following on from the Queen’s Birthday Weekend holiday it was a hectic four day week, with staff putting the finishing touches to the full school’s mid year progress reports. These will be posted out in the last week of term. Music students were also polishing their performances for their fast approaching central North Island tour. SADD (Students Against Driving Drunk) is an organisation who provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking and driving impaired and other destructive decisions. Last Wednesday our SADD committee members were dressed all in white during the day. They had to go the whole day without talking and acted as if to represent the spirits of those who had lost their lives to drink driving. Last week the whole school went to the hall to listen to the message of anti violence campaigner, Vic Tamati. There was also a visit from the first of the University Liaison officers from Otago to talk to our seniors heading off for further study. A former student, Daniel Jaques (2003-2007) now studying at the School of Management at Waikato University, was part of a team that won a strategic case competition, where a scenario was given and teams had to develop strategies to meet this.
