Last Tuesday a large group of Year 12 and 13 students travelled to Palmerston North with Mrs Teekman to attend the Tertiary Discovery Day held in the Convention Centre. The Day was jointly organized by Massey University and UCOL. Our students had plenty of opportunity to check out different career study options on display. There were some very exciting and interactive displays and the mannequin with the 'real heart beat' and persistent cough was a very popular one. The psychology exhibit had interesting 'hands on' activities, including being able to take a lie-detector test. Our students enjoyed the very informative and worthwhile day.

Also last Tuesday, Mr Forrest and his Year 12 Geography class went to Palmerston North to look at urban development in the city. They visited the airport and were addressed by the Airport CEO, then they looked at housing development throughout the city. It was then a close look at the Square's redevelopment, followed by a drive around the Massey University's Tiritea Campus.

Ken Metekingi, Year 11, finished 3rd in the Best Net Division at the Mananwatu-Wanganui Intercollegiate Golf Championship held recently at the Marton Golf Club at Santoft. He shot an 81 gross, which is a fine effort playing off the Blue Championship tees. Ken has also been recently selected in the junior Manawatu-Wanganui representative side. He has games in the holidays at Taupo against Bay of Plenty and Hawkes Bay, and also has a tournament at the Marton Golf Club. Congratulations Ken in making this team.
