Tararua College is a secondary school with a roll of 420 students, situated in Pahiatua in the northern Wairarapa. Our Mission Statement is:
At Tararua College we aim to meet the needs of all students. We provide a caring, friendly
and supportive environment where learning is satisfying and a desire for knowledge is fostered.
Our motto is Tama Tu Tama Ora which, translated, means 'those who strive live fully.' Accordingly, we encourage all students to participate in the many academic, cultural, sporting and recreational activities available. As well as these activities providing a variety of individual and social learning experiences, they help to
develop strong relationships between students and with staff, and they contribute towards school
pride and an enjoyment of school. |
We believe that Tararua College is an ideal size: It is big enough to offer a wide range of learning opportunities yet small enough for students to be known by staff, and their needs quickly recognised. A family atmosphere and a safe, secure, supportive environment encourage students to perform to their potential. Whatever their abilities or interests, when students eventually leave school as young adults, we believe that we send them out confident and well prepared to make a positive contribution to society. To help prepare our students for adulthood we value a close relationship with parents and the
community. You are welcome to visit and tour the College at any time. If there is
anything you wish to know, please do not hesitate to contact the College.
For parents of prospective students, we look forward to creating a successful partnership with you and know that you will enjoy being a part of our school community. Glynis De Castro, Principal
