I am extremely honoured to be chosen for the position of Head Girl for 2018. I look forward to, not only working alongside next year’s student leaders, but also working with all students and teachers at Tararua College, and working with you, as our community, to further advance our school and community. To me, a big part of the role, as a head student, is about evolving. Always making progress, whether that progress be, finding new ways to make learning and teaching easier but more efficient, building a new footpath at the college to ensure the safety of our students and anyone who comes to our school, working with the community in ways that we all come together as one, and many other ways that keep us moving forward. I believe that we have a great team of student leaders for next year, that are excited to work with one another and see what is to come in 2018. We are well underway to planning a successful year for Tararua College and the community.

I am gratefully humbled to have been honoured with the head boy position for 2018. To me, the head boy position means more than just wearing the badge, rather to me, its a huge responsibility for not only our school Tararua College, but also for our community. I once talked about a Piko Piko plant in a speech I had done recently. This reference had a large significance towards growth, growth within our school, our students, teachers, community, and furthermore growth within ourselves. This reference posed as an underlying message for us to grow and move together as one school, and one community. He waka eke noa. We row as one. No matter the size of our school, it is a complete ambition to make sure our relationship with the junior school has a strong bond with all seniors. To be involved, to show respect and to strive for excellence is what we as a school work towards, together. We as young leaders are excited to see what 2018 has to offer, we are ready to represent our school with pride and honour, and move through the new year as young successful leaders of today. I’m extremely excited to work alongside everyone in the new year to come. Ka tū tātou hei Rāngatira. We are all great leaders.

Thank you
