Bronze:
Minimum starting age 14 and over - minimum commitment of 6 months. Earliest finishing age 14 1/2.

Silver:
Minimum starting age 15 and over - minimum commitment of 6 months (12 months for direct entrants*).

Gold:

Each level has four Sections:

Service: To encourage service to others and bring about an awareness of community, the need for volunteering and a growth in self-esteem for each young person.

Expeditions: To encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery that develops decision making and teamwork skills and improves communication, risk management and planning skills.

Skills: To encourage the discovery and development of personal interests and social and practical skills that can lead to a lifelong interest and lifelong learning.

Physical Recreation: To encourage participation in physical activity and improvement of performance and an awareness of health and fitness.

The Programme Will Challenge The Individual!

  • It is for students of all abilities
  • It is non-competitive
  • Students set their own goals in each of the sections
  • Gaining an Award requires persistence and commitment
  • It is a means of accrediting learning through an internationally recognised Award
A Success Story.
Since 1963 almost 60,000 young people in New Zealand have achieved Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards, while many more have completed one or more section certificates.
Approximately 5,000 young people take up the Programme each year. Over 300 schools and colleges offer the Programme for their students. A further 500 community groups offer their young people access to the Programme.
The Programme is internationally recognised and operated in over 100 countries worldwide.
Mr T Swale is the Co-ordinator for this Award at the College
